Brownie points are good to achieve, and we have actually found that one can look at it two ways.

 

The normal way to look at it:

First the husband scores some brownie points (moving the lawn, DIY plumbing, ...) and later goes out flying and has a great time with his buddies or perhaps just with the occasional thermal.

 

But on the other hand - if he goes out flying without brownie points on his hand, he often gets home in a very good mood after chasing and catching thermals for an hour or even more, and he is very eager to share his mood and happiness with the whole family, which in it self counts as brownie points, instead of the grumpy-and-looking-out-of-the-window-husband.

 

If you get the wife to look at it both ways, you can earn brownie points before you fly and/or you can earn brownie points while you fly. Either ways you get to fly.
