Addresses of my suppliers:

 Carbon cloth:

We have used 93 g/m2 carbon cloth from Weisgerber.

He has a homepage, under the Ariane team: http://www.delago.de/ariane/EHome.htm

EMC-Vega has about the same products:

http://www.emc-vega.de

He also have a 68 g/m2 carbon/kevlar cloth at about the same price as the 93 g/m2 – nice to work with.

Carbon sock:

The carbon sock we use come from ”Siltex”. We have used two sizes: a thick for the foam lists in front of the hinge line in the wing, and a thinner for the foam lists behind the hinge line in the wing and for the plastic straws on both sides of the hinge line in the V-tail.

We will still use the thin sock, but we have found a replacement for the thick sock; a thinner sock, that isn’t so heavy in use. At the moment I don’t have the number, but the price for the new sock was about DEM 375,- pr. 100 meter in 2000.

 Glascloth:

We also use glas cloth –  110 g/m2, 49 g/m2 and 25 g/m2. This we get from different suppliers, since the prices doesn’t seem to vary a great deal.

We have only used a small amount of kevlar (2 fuselages), since we have found it hard to work with, but the right scissor may be the solution? The kevlar cloth we have used, have been the Russian dark brown type.

We have also bought epoxy from different suppliers, but always the LF-type (LF = Luftfahrt Harz – equals Aircraft Resin).

Balsa:

The balsa we get from Armin Hortsitz (Germany). We get them at the size and thickness we want, and the weight is 10 kg/m3 or the same weight as a 1mm balsa sheet 100x1000mm weighing 10 grams – pretty light, but not quite as light as Herix (70 kg/m3) – we do though think that it’s easier to work with. And remember that Herix is a PVC-material – Poly Vinyl Chloride – it’s not good for your health. (Well – what is good for you health when building moulded models???). And with balsa we can use ”Abreiss gewebe” (= tear cloth (?) ). The lightest would probably be Rohacell.
