Back in 1982 Joe Ruth presented his 2-meter design -The Prophet - with drawing and construction article in the February issue of Model Airplane News. He wrote that it had a NACA 4410, but from what I can see that is not quite true. It was actually a NACA 2410 where the camber had been increased from 2,0% to 2,5%. This gives an airfoil with a camber of 2,5% and a thickness of 10%. Even by today’s standard, The Prophet will be a good 2 meter glider for thermal flight, and the design is today about 20 years old! I have tried to compare this Prophet-airfoil with a MH 32, which I have thickened to 10% and the difference is astonishing. Well to be true they are scaring close. |
