Hi Erik,

My name is Steve Boag and I live in Tasmania (Australia).  My friend Bruce and I have been working on producing a moulded F3J glider for about 2 years now.  The model is 3.5 m span uses a SD 7003 section and total flying weight is approximately 2.3 - 2.4 kg.  It performs quite well.  The layup is 2 component polyurethane car paint (very good quality - hard but flexible), 49g glass, 93g carbon D-box diagonally, 1mm balsa, 49g glass.  All components are moulded separately (we won't do that again!!) - ailerons, flaps, rudders/elevators, v-tail, 3-piece wing, fuselage, inner nose cone, outer nose cone.  The fuselage is entirely of carbon (very strong).  The carbon/end grain balsa/carbon spar is made separately and inserted before the moulds are joined (won't do that again either!).  The moulds were not CNC machined but produced from hand made plugs (won't do that again!) as we did not have access to a CNC machine at the time.  I have just finished the second model from the moulds (after 6 months) and it will be ready to fly within the next week.
